Pigment is a curated starter kit designed for people new to gouache painting. The project addresses a real pain point: beginners often don't know which supplies are worth investing in or how to select quality materials. Pigment solves this by providing a thoughtfully curated collection of professional-grade gouache paints and supplies paired with clear guidance on how to use them.

Process

I began by researching gouache painting and identifying which supplies are essential for beginners—and which are worth the investment. This informed the starter kit contents and shaped the branding direction.

For the logo and brand identity, I needed to create something that felt artistic and approachable while remaining professional and versatile. I developed two logo variations: a horizontal lockup for packaging and marketing, and a circular mark that works at any scale, critical for a product-based brand.

Brand System

I developed two logo variations: a horizontal lockup for packaging and a circular mark that works at any scale. The color palette draws from natural pigments and warm earth tones, reflecting the artistic nature of the medium. I created a custom leaf pattern and complementary brand elements to build a cohesive visual system.

Pigment was entered into the ASU GIT 2022 design contest and received first place in Branding Systems & Campaigns

Design + Execution

After finalizing the branding, I sketched each item in the starter kit. Using Adobe Dimension, I created photorealistic renderings to visualize how all brand elements would appear together, allowing me to refine the system before finalization.
